When Did I Buy Into the Belief That I Need To Write Every Day on Medium

Writing on Medium

I am susceptible to feeling pressure and I don’t like it

Somewhere in my early research and reading of others on this platform I bought into the belief that I need to write every day.

Or even more than a story a day.

Because that has come naturally in the last five months, I haven’t doubted its accuracy for me.

However, I have noticed that when I don’t produce that frequently, I feel I’m doing something wrong, and that my earning opportunities will go out the door.

In fact I have read just as many people saying they do well here creating way less than that, or somewhere in between.

And I hear them.

Still, I sense something is missing when a story does not get published daily.

It could just be that I revel in the satisfaction of hitting that button, and even years ago when I was blogging on WordPress I enjoyed when articles poured out regularly.

There is nothing wrong with that of course it’s a wonderful experience to create abundantly.

But what would be more marvelous for me is to not only know it would be okay if I didn’t, but to recognize that there is no magic quantity-formula that brings in the bucks here.

Lack meaning that something is missing when I don’t fit the agenda of another’s mindset — that I’ve somehow bought into — and full indicating that the way I do it is the only thing that can be correct for my life.

It could also be that because I am used to generally outputting a story a day I worry that when time goes by unwritten I’ll never get the flow back.

And that would be a good thing because it would be what was happening.
