Design Thinking is everywhere. From building an app to designing your next start-up projects, it is the framework that plays the ‘behind the scene’ strategy for most of our business.

So how to think and design better even when you have nothing tech-related?

The answer lies in the comfort of your home and starts with you.

Practice Design Thinking through the art of cooking.

But Why Cooking anyway, you ask.

Bear with me a minute, let me explain.

Why are we motivated to cook?

We cook not only because it is essential for our survival, but It is also a key to win a pleasant gathering atmosphere if done right from the recipes, the flavours, to the servings.

That means cooking is no longer a human being’s basic needs, but has derived into service, entertainment, a performance that is enjoyable and shareable.

Cooking involves a set of steps, and processes to deliver an exceptional audience experience.

For example, we must have the needs, the motivations to start an action from the first few steps. To start with cooking, we must have the demands, the hunger, the desire to make it happen.

In the Design Thinking process, they build great products when designers understand the pains and empathize with the needs of their audience. They wear the audience’s shoes. In this stage, they learn about the consumers, what they want to cater to the audience needs, and come up with a product to solve the problems.

Similarly, to end your hunger, or to treat someone with a nice warm meal, it motivates you to cook. You look for a recipe and make it good.

There is a direct emotional connection between you and who you are serving to. That’s why Cooking is the perfect form of practice for the Design Thinking process anyone can start with as it requires hands-on practices, craftsmanship, creativity and flexible thinking skills. All you can start from home with just small preparation and in return, gain skills and edible results.
